Background and Identification
Hitachi is a huge Japanese multinational conglomerate known for producing a bit of everything, from nuclear power plants to sex toys. Because their company is so far reaching, refrigerators are but a tiny footnote on their Wikipedia page. However, it is known that during some financial troubles between 2006 and 2010, the "white goods" (refrigerators, washers, etc.) division of the company was sold to Arçelik. Home appliances appear to still be sold under the Hitachi name, but it's unclear whether the designs of newer appliances are by Hitachi or the new owners.
