Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with the Surface Pro 4, you can refer to the troubleshooting page.

Background and Identification

The Surface Pro 4 was announced on October 6th, 2015 alongside the Surface Book and new Surface Dock.

Notable improvements and changes include a small increase in actual screen size to 12.3 inches, a two generation leap in processor specification from Haswell to Skylake, and improved cooling to combat thermal throttling.

Identifying a Surface Pro 4 is simple, although it does not have any easily identified model number on the exterior case. To distinguish it from previous generations, look for the Windows logo on the back. Additionally, earlier Surface models have a Windows logo/Start button on the front panel, while the Pro 4's bezel is blank all around.
