XPS 13 9315 2-in-1 Battery Replacement? |
Background
The Dell XPS 13 9315 is a 13.4" multimedia laptop released in 2022 by Dell. It is the successor to the XPS 13 9310, but has a lot of key changes. On the outside, the 9315 loses both the headphone jack and the microSD card reader of its predecessor, leaving it with only two USB Type-C ports. It also has a significantly less key travel on its keyboard. Internally, it loses the M.2 SSD slot, meaning the SSD is soldered to the motherboard. Since SSDs, like hard drives, wear out over time, this gives the motherboard a finite lifespan with no easy repair. See our teardown for more details.
Identification
The XPS 13 9315 can be identified with the model information stamped into the underside of the laptop. It is distinctively lacking the capacitive function row and keyboard redesign of the XPS 13 9320 and newer, while lacking the additional ports of the XPS 13 9310 and prior.
