Dyson DC58 Makes Unusual Sound

Does your Dyson DC58 handheld vacuum make unusual sounds during use? Dyson handheld vacuums are susceptible to several problems that can cause them to produce unusual sounds. Check the following possible causes to identify and solve the problem!

If your Dyson vacuum is producing whistling noises, it may be the result of air leaking out of the vacuum’s vents. Check for broken seals and incorrectly-fitted parts. Broken seals may need to be replaced.

A clogged filter in a Dyson vacuum can create a muffled sucking sound or a high-pitched squealing during use. You may need to remove and clean out the vacuum filter. Remove the filter by twisting the purple dial labeled “filter” located at the top of the vacuum. Pull the filter out of the vacuum and rinse it under running water for at least two minutes, or until the water runs clear. While rinsing the filter, gently shake it to remove any built-up debris. Gently wring out the filter to remove excess water. Place the filter in a dry, warm environment and allow it to dry for at least 24 hours, or until the filter is completely dry. Then, place the filter back into the vacuum and try to use it normally.
