LG Optimus 3D Troubleshooting

No matter what you do, you can't get your phone to turn on. The phone may start to boot-up, showing the LG logo, but gets no further.

Plug your phone in and let it charge for a few hours. If your battery is below a 20-30% charge, it will not turn on.

Make sure there is no debris stuck in your phone’s charging port. You can use isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to clean up any residue or dirt from the contacts.

Make sure you are using the correct charging cable, and that it is not damaged. For example, make sure none of the internal wires are exposed. You can use isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to clean the contacts if they appear dirty.

Open battery cover and replace with new battery. You can find instructions on how to do that in this guide. Make sure it is charged up before trying to turn your phone on again.

Remove the battery cover, and remove the SD card. Try turning your phone on without the SD card.

Perform a hard reset. You can find direction to do that here.

Your phone is turned on, but the power/lock button won't work. You are unable to lock or unlock your screen.

Use a thin object, such as a unbent paperclip, to un-stick or jiggle the button.

Remove the battery, wait a few seconds, replace the battery, and try turning the phone on again.

Pinch the top right corner of the phone while pushing the power/lock button. Loose soldering is a relatively common problem reported on the power button, and pinching it together is a temporary fix.

It is possible that the cable connecting the button to the motherboard was damaged. Follow this guide for instructions on how to replace it.

While your phone is plugged in, it shows that the battery is full, or in the process of charging. However, when you unplug it, it either completely turns off, or the battery only lasts for an hour or two, even if you aren't using it heavily.

Open the battery cover and remove the battery. Replace with a new one.

Sometimes, the software that the phone uses to calculate the battery's remaining charge gets confused, and needs to be reset. This site has detailed directions on how to do that.

Make sure your apps and phone operating system are all up-to-date. You can check if your apps need to be updated by checking the Google Play Store. You can check if the operating system needs to be updated by going to your phone’s system page and checking under “About this Phone”.

Your device is unable to access the information stored within the SD card. You are still able to access information in the internal memory.

Turn your phone off and on again.

Remove the SD card and clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Make sure when you place it back into the slot that it is sitting firmly within the slot.

Make sure your phone is updated to the most recent software available. If the problem appeared just after updating, try reverting to the most recent software version that still worked.

The card itself may have been corrupted. Replace with a new card.

If the card itself is not the problem, and it is not a software bug, there may be a problem with either the SD/SIM card board or the motherboard. Click the provided links to be taken to the replacement guides.

Your phone takes a long time to respond. When you touch your screen, your phone takes a long time to react to the touch. Games and programs may not run well, or may just crash.

Go to Settings → Applications → Running Services.

From this menu, you can close apps that do not need to be running the background.

If your phone’s storage is too full, it may cause it to run slowly. Some storage cleanup methods include:

• Delete old text messages. If you are a text message hoarder, these take up more space than you may realize, especially MMS messages.
• Delete old photos, videos, or audios. You can back these up to your computer by connecting your device and transferring the files.
• Clear your cache. Access your applications list through the settings menu, and select an app. Scroll down until you see the “Clear Cache” button, and click on it.
• Clear your downloads folder. On newer versions of the Android OS, this can be accessed directly through the application list.
• Uninstall unused or unwanted apps. If you haven't played that game for months, you probably won't pick it back up.
