Hello! My name is Charlotte Go. I am a second year Cal Poly student pursuing a major degree in English and a minor degree in computer science. I am also enrolled in the TPC program in order to receive a Technical and Professional Communication Certificate.
My favorite hobby is playing immersive video games. Video games inspired me to pursue writing because of its creative storytelling. Right now, I am developing my own narrative video game alongside a few peers. Additionally, I play for the competitive Overwatch teams at Cal Poly. I would claim that, because of video games, I am a team player, work well under pressure, and am wildly imaginative.

So, if I want to pursue video game design, why am I looking into technical writing? This year, I reached out to several people in an attempt to learn more about the video game industry. One of them was Connor Walsh, a former Cal Poly student and a current narrative designer at Obsidian Entertainment. I expressed my concern about job stability at an entertainment company. He recommended I try out technical writing as a backup since I enjoy computer science and writing. He said that, while I work as a technical writer, I could also develop video games on the side.

After following his advice, I found that I really enjoy technical writing because it challenges you to think creatively. Thus, I am excited to develop my skills with IFixIt!
