After fully charging your laptop its battery dies rapidly compared to when you first owned it.

Inspect charging cable and the AC power adapter for any damage to the wire or power adapter. If there is no visible damage to the charging cable or the adapter plug, then plug the AC adapter into the wall and connect the charging cable to the adapter and then connect your laptop. It is important that all these connections are fully plugged into one another. After doing so, a green LED light on the front of the computer should light up. If neither the LED light nor charging icon give you an indication of charging your charging cable or AC adapter is damaged and needs replacement.

If your laptop is fully charged, measure how long it takes for the battery to deplete. In Window’s 10, you can check this by clicking on the battery icon along the taskbar in the bottom right-hand side of the screen to see your device’s charge percentage. If the device’s battery life is significantly less than eight hours (estimated new battery life), then your battery may be old and can no longer hold a large amount of charge. The battery may be dead if the laptop will not turn on, none of the external LED lights are blinking, and if the device will not charge when it is plugged in. Although, when plugged in, the laptop will function but once unplugged, it powers down. If this is the case, consider replacing the battery. Follow the guide for battery replacement.

The screen is cracked, there are parts of the screen that distort the image, the laptop turns on, but doesn’t display an image.

If any of these are the case, you may want to consider replacing it. Follow the guide for removal.

Keyboard is not responding or is missing keys.

First check that keyboard is unresponsive. Open a computer window and click on a textbox with your mouse. Once the textbox is selected, try typing; if nothing is showing up on the screen, your keyboard is damaged. It is best to try in multiple programs. After checking to make sure your keyboard is actually unresponsive, you may want to consider replacing it. Follow the guide for replacement.

If some of the keys have fallen out of your computer over time and you want to replace your keyboard, follow the guide for replacement.

You are experiencing slower than usual performance or the laptop is not responsive.

If too many applications are open and running, it may slow down the responsiveness of your laptop. Try closing unneeded programs and see if the performance improves. Restart your laptop if it does not.

A hard drive needs about 10% free space to function optimally. The less space that is available, the slower your laptop may run, and it may even freeze or crash. If your hard drive is too full, try removing programs or large files that you do not need. If your hard drive is not large enough for your needs or the hardware is failing due to physical wear or damage, you may need to replace it. Follow the guide for replacement.

If your laptop is running slowly or is unresponsive, you may need to check if the amount of RAM available is sufficient. To check how much RAM is being used, right-click on the taskbar or press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys and select the Task Manager. Click on the performance tab and a percentage should be listed. If the percentage is high and your laptop is running slow you may need to close some programs, or files. You may also consider upgrading the RAM. Follow the guide for upgrade.

The operating system on your laptop requires a set amount of RAM to operate properly. If you have recently upgraded it, you may need to check your computer properties to verify if it has enough RAM to run properly. If it does not, you may need to upgrade the amount of RAM on your laptop. Follow the guide for upgrade.

You are not able to save your files due to lack of room.

If you do not have enough space and can no longer save files to your hard drive, you may consider deleting any unneeded files or programs to free up space. If you do not want to lose your files, you may backup them up on an external hard drive and see if that helps.

If you do not have enough storage space for your needs and do not have any unnecessary files or programs that you can delete, you may want to consider upgrading your hard disk drive.
