The MDR-1000X is Sony’s premium noise-cancelling over-ear headphone. It features 40 mm drivers, touch-capacitative earcup controls, four microphones. It supports LDAC, SBC, AAC, aptX (HD). It can run up to 20 hours on its 1200 mAh lithium-ion battery.
Background & Identification
Released in September 2016, Sony's new, premium wireless MDR-1000X headphones feature Bluetooth 4.1, active noise cancelling, touch-capacitive earcup controls, and four microphones. They’re a direct competitor to Bose’s QuietComfort 35s released earlier in the year. Featuring new signal processing and new earcups for improved sound isolation, they went on sale October 2016 for $400.
Available in black or beige, the MDR-1000Xs come with a carrying case, audio and power cables, and an adapter for use in airplanes.
The Sony MDR-1000X headphones were succeeded by 2017’s WH-1000XM2.
