Rob Salamone, I would start by replacing the battery as well as the screen. It is possible that you have a damaged battery charging circuit and that is what heats up your phone. Check around the MAX8987 DC Power Management IC and see if you notice anything corroded or charred. Here is a teardown that will give you an idea how to get to the parts to be replaced. I had the same problem. I even sent my phone to the Samsung repair centre twice. They changed the display, but didn't change the battery. In the end I simply took out the memory-card and now my phone is perfectly temperatured the whole time.

Also, I realized that the plug of one of my chargers seems to be some kind of broken.

I haven't tried to use another memory-card instead, yet. But I'll try before I send it in next time because I broke my display recently ;-)

Remove the LCD flex cable and connect board to PC. it should be detected by PC. in my point of view your fault occur due to back light short circuit of replaced LCD.

except transceivers most of power consume by back light in modern smart phones

I had this issue too, put my phone to charge for the night and in the morning, very hot and won't turn on. Tried replacing the battery (with another genuine one), let it sit for a few days with battery out, nothing worked.

I sent it back to Samsung they replaced the whole device.

Apparently it happens because the USB connector for charging is subpart and gets corroded over time. Preliminary signs are: leave the phone to charge without any CPU intensive apps running, phone gets warm to very warm (in some cases has to stop charging because too warm and safety kicks in). This will eventually wear the charging curcuit out and result in a dead unit again. Seems to happend after about 9-12 months.

It is happening again to the unit they replaced, I ordered a USB flex (the whole PCB at the bottom with the USB port on it) to replace it and see if this fixed the heating during charging situation.

Good luck
