Laptop not booting but fan spins and keyboard lights up

When I try to boot my laptop, the lights of the keyboard light up, and the fan spins very fast, and when I boot it with D pressed, it does some screen tests and then it turns off, I suspect it might be the ram because of this article, please help.

Just realized, if I let it turn on and of for a lot of times, it boots regularly but now it (only one time) flashes I think 8 times white and 2 times amber.

Hi @justincase69831

Does it do this with the charger connected, you didn't say?

Try a full power refresh in case it is a corrupted BIOS and check if that resolves the problem.

Here’s the procedure:

a). Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected.

b). Remove main battery from the motherboard.

c). Remove the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard.

Here’s the service manual for the laptop series. Go to p.15 & p.27 to view the procedure to remove the main battery and the RTC battery, respectively.

When the RTC battery is removed measure its voltage. If it is <2.6V DC replace it. It is a CR2032 Lithium coin cell battery available most everywhere, e.g. supermarkets

d). Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it

e.) Reinsert the RTC battery (or its replacement, +ve on top as marked on the battery) and the main battery.

f). Re-assemble the laptop.

g.) When the laptop is completely re-assembled, connect the charger and try to turn on the laptop.

If it starts OK there may be a message about the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been completely reset back to its default settings. Once the date and time have been adjusted the message won’t appear the next time that the laptop is started.

If you had previously changed any user defined settings in BIOS to suit whatever specific hardware configuration that you had for the laptop, then these will have to be set again.

I have it already running without battery, because it wont turn on with it. The computer now works, but sometimes it doesen't, however, since I don't plan on using it as my main pc, it doesen't matter, but thank you for your answer
