well, i used a heat gun on this phone to remove the battery... and i notice something sliver under the battery... and the adhesive tab didn't budge (and ended up ripping)
yeah it was kinda hard to see, but still is this normal...?
is this just the base but damaged?
edit its not... it crumbles when you get something under it.. could it maybe be thermal paste....?

Could be the old adhesive. Seems to be in the right place. If the tabs break off I either use a heat mat and a spudger to gently lift the battery or put some alcohol down the side of the battery and tilt the phone so it runs over the adhesive.

There shouldn't be any thermal paste under there. it would be useless. Any chance you poked through the battery/tore it?

@tech_ni that is what I was thinking. The crumbling would make me think it is :-)
