Got some water on my phone while I was at work. It wasn’t flickering at first but after a couple of days its now almost non stop. It mainly happens when I turn up the brightness or my phone gets too hot. What could have been damaged for this to happen? I did try to open up my phone but it’s rather difficult to do so and I need it for work so i don’t have much time

The impurities in the water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone's operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away
First do not try to charge or to turn on your phone and then remove the battery as soon as possible from the phone to minimize any further damage.
Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the phone and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) to remove all traces of corrosion and water. If possible do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is only 70% IPA or less, can contain additives and is not as effective. If you do have to use it check the label to verify the amount of IPA. The higher the percentage of IPA the better

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted pcb be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board. Remove the shields that may be covering some components as the water may have got in under there. The ends of any flex cables and their connectors need to be cleaned as well
Hopefully after you have done all this the phone might possibly work correctly again.

If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.

Put your phone under the sun , place a light paper or cloth over it for half an hour and BELIEVE me your situation will be resolved

Sounds like you may have got some water inside the phone. You could try placing the phone in a ziplock bag with a pile of desiccant overnight to see if that works to remove the issue. With it getting hot now, there may have been corrosion that is shorting out the battery, (water getting into the battery is extremely unlikely), and may need some further service by someone that can open it up and investigate.

Spilling plain water (hopefully not soda, coffee,etc) may have tiny impurities that may short circuit tiny electrical connections leading to erratic problems. With most cellphones, replacing the battery simply requires popping the back cover off using one of several plastic wedge type tools to fit between tightly snapped together phones. Best troubleshooting would be turning off the phone then removing the back cover. Once the cover is removed, either disconnect the battery and use a can of air to blow off any remaining moisture. With moisture blown off, leave the phone in the oven (having a pilot light) to dry off in the next few hours. A stove with pilot light can do the same by placing the phone with exposed electronics facing up on a thin dish to dry. The gentle warm heat should accelerate evaporating any remaining moisture clinging in nooks and crannies. When ‘cooked’ this way for several hours, reassemble and turn on the phone. Another alternate to accelerating evaporation of remaining moisture would be leaving the phone on top of the boiler or hot water heater. Heat radiating from heated water can help evaporate moisture.
