Sorry for the delayed response, but I figured it out...I neglected to mention that I did go inside it to replace the tiny joystick, and I inadvertently hit the volume switch from the inside. But thank you for taking the time to respond.

Are you sure the volume is turned up? When was the last time the sound was working? Did you make any changes to the 2DS before the sound stopped working? Did the 2DS get damaged or get wet before it stopped working. Can you hear the sound if you plug in some headphones?
