Does this also apply to model #: 15m-bp111dx?

Does this also apply to model #: 15m-bp111dx? It seems the main difference between my model and others is the amount of memory (12GB) mine has…my laptop has both a blown battery fuse (warranty covered) and a crack in the glass of the screen (LCD is ok).

@ziphron - What applies??

I love the ending of the story... But, I would like to hear the beginning and the mid sections too!

So lets back up what IS your problem and why do you think its the same as the 15m-bp111dx model. The more details the better!

lol Fair enough…well, I already know that the battery fuse is faulty, per HP remote troubleshooting. Of course, they will honor the warranty and fix it...but, sending it in means weeks without it.

At the point of the battery fuse going and the screen getting cracked, I had the laptop for only 2.5 months so there's not much to back up. However, I don't want to send out a laptop with access to my cloud storage, etc.

So given that, I have decided I may fix it myself but I want to be sure. I already have experience fixing mobile devices, tablets, iPhones, iPads, Samsung devices, etc but I'm not sure I want to do THIS unless I can see what exactly I'm getting into.

Hi @ziphron ,

Why risk voiding the warranty and trying to repair it yourself?

A blown fuse is indicative of a further problem. It is only doing its’ job, sacrificing itself to protect the rest of the equipment.

Unless the fault is obvious, without a schematic diagram it will be difficult to locate what the problem might be.

Why not just remove the HDD (or SSD ) and send the laptop in for repair that way?

Here’s a link to the service manual, taken from this webpage. Scroll to p.33 or 34 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the HDD/SSD.

You may wish to confirm with HP first that removing the HDD/SSD will not void the warranty, just in case.
