Hi, I'm Spencer!
I'm a student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, pursuing a Management Information Systems (MIS) degree with a minor in Communication. I chose MIS because it blends my passion for technology with business strategy, allowing me to solve real-world problems through data, networking, and systems management.
Aspirations
I hope to build a career in networking, cybersecurity, or IT infrastructure, where I can work hands-on with technology to optimize systems and enhance security. In the long term, I’d love to lead innovative IT projects or work as a network architect, helping businesses stay ahead in an ever-evolving tech landscape.
Skills & Experience
I have a strong background in hardware assembly and troubleshooting, having built multiple computers in my free time. I'm also experienced with network design, VPN setup (GRE/tunneling), and packet simulation using Packet Tracer. Additionally, my communication minor has helped me develop strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, which are essential in IT.
Projects & Accomplishments
- Built and optimized several custom PCs for gaming and professional use.
- Designed and simulated network infrastructures for coursework and personal projects.
- Gained hands-on experience with MPLS, DMVPN, IPSec, OSPF, and BGP in networking studies.
- Continuously learn and refine my skills through certifications and lab work.
Repair Experience
I've repaired and upgraded various tech devices, including PCs, laptops, and peripherals. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge through iFixit, particularly in hardware diagnostics and more intricate repairs.
Accolades & Memberships
- Member of Charlton College of Business Deans List
- Working toward Cisco CCNA certification
- Recognized for strong technical problem-solving skills in coursework
Hobbies & Fun Facts
I love building PCs, gaming, and exploring networking technologies in my spare time. I also enjoy reading about tech innovations, ethical hacking, and cybersecurity trends. One fun fact about me—I can’t live without cookie dough and piano!
How This Project Relates to Me
Participating in iFixit aligns perfectly with my hands-on approach to learning. It will help me strengthen my troubleshooting skills, gain deeper insight into hardware repair, and apply my knowledge in a real-world setting—all of which are crucial for my future career in IT.
