Hello, my name is Daniel Olivo and this is my profile for my Fall 2024 group standard project for my 1700 Technical Writing course. Hopefully you are here with good intentions and are happy to get to know me a little better.

I'm a freshman student at University of North Texas majoring in Mechanical Engineering and pursuing my bachelor's degree to be a military officer. I'm coming up all the way from San Antonio to be here these next two semesters and am excited to start a new chapter in my life.

I come from a Air Force family with my dad serving 26 years. I was born in San Antonio and spent the first few years of my life there. We then spent 4 years in Stuttgart, Germany for deployment, and eventually to Florida and back here again. All throughout this time, I would say I was constantly surrounded by the car industry and the Air force. For this, I believe is a main reason why I'm pursuing my mechanical engineering degree (specified towards automotive) and for the opportunity to possibly be an Air Force pilot.

I used to be a massive weeb, from watching anime to playing video games all the time. Lately I've kind of strayed away from both but definitely want to get back into it (I still have to watch Berserk; and beat all Souls borne games). I sometimes box and practice jiujitsu with my cousins and friends, not anything competitive really but just some light/heavy sparring. I plan on joining a gym eventually to get better at both and possibly pursue another martial art like Muay Thai. I am also an active 3 year long "bodybuilder" and try to go to the gym as much as I can.

A few things I definitely don't do as much but want to get back into would be playing soccer, in which I played for 12 years of my life, creating art and drawing, and reading books. What I currently have on my shelf dying to be read are "Berserk Volume 1", "Dante's Inferno", "The Quran", and "The Bible" (I'm trying to read a lot of sacred text, mainly out of curiously and not religiously). I am also a huge fan of biblical paintings and that kind of art style.

I am also a HUGE movie/music enthusiast, but am kind of biased in what I watch and listen to. I would say I love a wide range of genres in both these categories with some outliers, like country for music, and modern horror for movies. For music I mainly like to switch back and forth between rap and rock. While for movies, I love to watch any genre even if it turns out to be a bad horror movie.
