I used the guide provided by ABCellars and managed to replace the Macbook Air LCD panel. Unfortunately the video doesn't exactly match the assembly I worked with. In my case, the LCD panel was glued to the frame. The back-light and diffuser assembly is separate and it was glued as well. Fortunately, I managed to remove the LCD panel without damaging the back-light assembly. Just a few small scratches while removing the broken glass of the LCD. Perhaps the most complicated screen replacement in my experience. Thanks for the guide, it helped.
A1398 2012 has both speakers with 6-pin connectors. All the replacements available online are 4 pin out speakers. Specifically, when I used a 4-pin left replacement speaker (by the headphone jack), the headphone detection became an issue coming out of sleep mode. If the laptop was restarted then headphone plugging/unplugging worked OK. I put back the old 6-pin left speaker and it all worked fine. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Interestingly, most online seller of this product don’t show the number of pins on the left speaker connector.
Pl note > Under the main board at (Red) 2.4 mm Phillips #000 screw, there is a small spacer plate with hole. It is at the bottom, below the main board and not visible when removing the main board. Remember to place it back before fitting the main board when reassembling.
