I was able to basically unravel the hose to pull it out. I then applied MODERATE force to the end fitting in the brush “head” to pop this out. I needed to remove this to allow me to "thread” the new hose up into the “stick”, thread the other end into the fitting, and then pop the fitting into the brush head. The fitting has to come out since both ends are “threaded” and there is no way to properly fit the hose in otherwise.
