I've seen this quite a bit after screen replacements. It always seems to happen if the housing of the particular iPhone is warped from being dropped, or the corners have been dented in from the impact of being dropped; even after using precision tools to rework the corners. Maybe there's uneven pressure being put onto the digitizer, due to the condition of the housing? I'm working with a guy at a metal fab shop on making a precision tool to correct warped housings, hoping this will correct a lot of issues. Going as far as replacing the entire housing seems to correct the issue. In this case, most, if not all customers haven't come back with any issues of ghost writing. I've also seen that oils from one's hands seem to trigger this, after a screen replacement... but I assume that this didn't occur with the original screen. Cleaning the screen of the oils would help a little, until you started touching the screen with your oily fingers again. If the housing is off by the slightest degree, perhaps the oils...

If your ipod touch 3rd generation is still white after the power/home reset, try desoldering the battery and resoldering it back onto the motherboard. This helped for me, and helps especially when either your power or home button doesn't work. After you've soldered the battery back onto the motherboard, plug in your device to your computer and you should get the apple boot logo right away, if your battery isn't dead. If you still have a white screen, either your lcd screen is bad and you need to get a new one, or you've snapped off a resistor that is necessary for your screen to light up properly. If your case is the latter, try steadying your hands in order to solder that resistor back onto the motherboard. It's a 50/50 shot. This has worked for me but only half of the time.

It goes on the Digitizer itself. Google search iPad 2 digitizer, click on images, and you should be able to find a screen that has adhesive on it; use that image as your guide.

I have been replacing iPod Touch 4th gen digitizers for a while now. and yes, i have run into the same issue in that about 3 out of 10 of the cameras don't work. I haven't found a way to fix the camera issue but have found a way to avoid it. Instead of disconnecting the camera plugs, pop off the metal plate that holds the back camera and pry it out of place, and unscrew the front camera and pop that out of place. So far, all cameras on the last 4 I have worked on do work.
