Go check out the Teardown at step 7. It seems like it would fit, or you could cram two of those Samsung drives in there, if you can get the necessary cable.

While it's a different car, the process will be pretty much the same, so check out the guide on this device page: Device Page The main differences will be the sizes of the tools, and many times the rotor has two phillips head screws holding it to the hub. Those tend to be very difficult to remove unless you have an IMPACT DRIVER SET like the one in the link. Those you can usually pick up at a local auto parts store for less than $20. Photo the process and make a guide specific to the car for it, and if you get stuck, feel free to ask.

It sounds like what is happening is the disk is catching on the piece that you are talking about in the fourth pic. This part moves up when the disk is loaded sandwiching the disk between it and the piece from your fifth pic., and keeping the disk clear from the tray while it spins. What seems to be happening is the part is not moving back down fully, so leaving the case partially separated allows the extra clearance needed for the tray to eject properly. I am assuming that you've taken the drive apart and have had the problem since then. Try taking it apart again and make sure that everything is in it's proper place, clean, and properly lubricated. A little story about PATA and ZIF; while they are two different things, they seem to sometimes be used interchangeably. I found this explanation on WikiAnswers HERE. Best I've been able to gather, if someone says ZIF when talking about connecting an HDD then they are referring to a PATA connection in the ZIF style, because ZIF isn't a connection type, but rather "merely a concept in connections." With the PATA connection for the air maybe being custom built for apple, I find dubiousness. If it is custom made to be different from a standard PATA connection then it can't really be called PATA because it wouldn't conform to the standard.

Um, wow. Just to remove the display assembly, you have to pretty much disassemble the whole phone. iPhone 4 front panel assembly You will then have to figure out how to get that piece off of the display assembly, which may be really difficult, seeing as the glass and display are securely glued together (check out step 22 and the associated description). The part is also most likely glued to the glass, and hopefully not sandwiched by the display. If that is the case, carefully use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive and gently pry it away from the glass. For the new part, apply a new adhesive, let set, and put it back together. Unfortunately, I don't have one to do this to myself, but if you are feeling up to it, and it works, please photo document the process and post a repair guide for others to follow. In short, is it easy to replace; probably not. However, is it worth it; quite possibly yes.

Space is tight in the air and, as I understand it, there is only room for a 5mm high hdd in it. The best that I can find leaves you maxing out at 120 GB while keeping at 5mm. The HS12YHA is all that I can find from Samsung with the PATA/ZIF connector, but Toshiba also has the MK1231GAL which they put at 4200 RPM, has PATA/ZIF and is only 5mm, but according to this page it can only be used for ipod or (excuse the bad word) zune.
