Mijn probleem
Battery life was shot. Needed, therefore, to replace the battery.

Repair went fine but in fact I wonder whether there are additional versions of the iphone 6/6s that are intermediate. The ifixit video for my 6s was not at all accurate for what I found inside - mine, which is definitely an "s", had no touch cable, and looked different in the battery/motherboard arrangement. It was clear-enough what to do, what to remove (I've changed batteries before), but neither the iphone 6 nor the iphone 6s video and pictures was accurate.
Which also might explain the weird problem I got into that the phone itself mislabels itself. I just don't know how this can happen but there are two "about" screens and one calls the phone a "6" and the other a "6s". The thing does have siri, so that means it's an "s" - but it's neither purely what was shown in those videos.
Consequently having randomly blundered onto the "6" about screen I ordered a "6" battery, then discovered the *second*, different "about" screen and discovered I had the wrong one and needed to swap it out for a 6s - what a waste of time, effort and postage!!! Some ifixit CS reps were enormous jerks about it but one was not. Thankfully, as I don't want to think badly of ifixit and without that last intervention I would have ceased business with them :(

Don't rely on the software to tell you what the phone is - use the numbers printed on the back or go inside the phone before ordering the new battery to triple-check you've got the right one.
Some online videos about removing the tape underneath the battery suggest pulling it around the sides. Do Not Do This on the 6s battery at least. Didn't work for me at least and just ended up snapping the tape underneath. Better to just pull straight, but very gently, and gently loop up the excess, but without turning any corners.
