Vraag

Java 8 update 151 always fails to install; Java will not uninstall.

Kaspersky repeatedly advises of "important" Java update but every update attempt in Kaspersky fails "because Chrome is running" (though Chrome is not actually open).

After closing Chrome as prompted in the Kaspersky dialog, still the update fails.

Six or more Chromes are listed in Task Manager. Attempts to End task on any of these gives an alert saying that Pocket or Kaspersky etc. is crashing, so I back out.

Every attempt to uninstall Java gives an alert telling me that something (doesn't say what) is already in the process of being installed and asking me to try again later. Always the same. Never happens.

What's going on here?

Hi @guylemec

If you are running Kaspersky Internet Security check its' settings as it might be disabling Java by default.

Java is considered to be "unsafe" but if you do need it then update it via the Java applet (Update tab) found in Control Panel.

Alternatively uninstall it (Control Panel > Programs and Features) and if you find that you do need it because of some programs you use or websites that you visit need it then you can always download the latest version and re-install it.
