Background and Identification

The Pebble Time—along with its sister watch, the Pebble Time Steel—features a low-power, 1.25-inch e-paper screen, capable of displaying 64 colors. At 150 mAh, the Time's battery is slightly smaller, but still manages to eke out a claimed 7 days of battery life (vs. 10 hours from the Pebble Time Steel). The long battery life of these devices owes partly to the low-power display, and partly to the 100 MHz ARM Cortex M4 CPU.

Additional features include water resistance to a depth of 30 meters. Internally, the Pebble Time packs a 3D accelerometer, compass, and ambient light sensor. It also sports a microphone, a first in the Pebble lineup. Additionally, the charging port is designed to interface with feature-rich "Smartstraps" with GPS, heart rate monitors, and other upgrades.

The Pebble Time is easily distinguished from the Pebble Time Steel by its case materials. While the Steel version uses marine grade stainless steel, the standard Pebble gets by with a polycarbonate case and stainless steel bezel.
