Background
The Infant Optics DXR-8 was released in 2013 as a top-of-the-line baby monitor. The DXR-8 is a small, sleek baby monitor that is used to supervise new-born babies. The Infant Optics DXR-8 includes a 3.5" color LCD screen with night vision, temperature indicator, two way talk, and sound-activated LED. It also boasted a long battery life and the world's first interchangeable lens system.
The Infant Optics DXR-8 contains two main pieces, a monitor and a camera. Both are gloss white in appearance, with a gold trim. The monitor unit is identifiable by the word "DXR-8" written in white on the top left corner, with a screen in the center and buttons off to the right side. The camera unit is cylindrical with a ring of LEDs surrounding the lens. The camera unit contains the words "Infant Optics" written in gold underneath the power switch.
An updated version of the Infant Optics DXR-8 was released in March 2015. The new version is identical in appearance to the old version. However, the new version contains updated software to allow for more customization, for example, volume adjustment for alerts if the monitor is brought out of range of the camera.
