Need help diagnosing problem with microphone
In the past day my microphone has become nearly inaudible (and possibly of poor quality) to anyone listening over multiple different programs. I’ve tested the headset on another computer and it works fine. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers to no avail. At this point I’m worried there is physical damage to the audio port. I’m always gentle with the PC but I am scratching my head as to what else could be the source of the problem and how it could be fixed.
Audio still comes through the headset as normal. Since I initially posted the question the computer fails to register any audio whereas before it was simply incredibly faint.

Hi @redhanded,
What is the make and model number of the motherboard?
Is the microphone connected to the front case mic connector or to the rear panel connector (if applicable)?

@jayeff The motherboard is a MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700. The microphone is connected to the front case mic connector and has been throughout the time I have been using it.
