What Bluetooth versions are the 2021 Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad

I don’t think Apple altered the keyboard, mouse or trackpad units. There really is no real reason to do so. These are slow input devices so offering the super fast newest standard doesn’t make economical sense for them (the older parts are cheaper) and for you, you won’t see any difference as hard as you try!

Key points:

Bluetooth 2.0 - The introduction of an Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) for faster data transfer. The bit rate of EDR is 3 Mbit/s, although the maximum data transfer rate (allowing for inter-packet time and acknowledgements) is 2.1 Mbit/s.

Bluetooth 5.0 - Provides, for BLE, options that can double the speed (2 Mbit/s burst) at the expense of range, or provide up to four times the range at the expense of data rate (max 3.8 Mbit’s)

As you can see the data rates really haven’t changed. The speed of your typing or movement of the mouse or trackpad is still at the lower data rate ~2.0 Mbit/s.

Joy stick controllers on the other hand, which often have multiple outputs would benefit Bluetooth 5.0 as it allows multiple streams beyond the normal three a headset would use (Left, Right & Mic) of the original Bluetooth spec.
