Touch ID Won't Work

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a badly repaired iPhone 6. I have been able to fix everything other than an issue with touch ID.

The home button had been swapped, so I got the seller to send me the original home button, still in the cracked screen they had replaced.

I switched the replaced home button with what the seller told me was the original. Touch id still didn’t work.

I then decided to try a replacement home button flex cable. I was met with the same result as before, touch id refused to work.

Since the phone was badly repaired, it isn’t difficult to believe that the screws may have gotten mixed up during the repair. Is it likely that the repairer damaged just the touch id feature by doing this? I presume the repair may have been performed with the battery connected, so perhaps this is a potential cause too.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

if under inspection everything looks ok with no tears or damage and you have tried a new flex cable then I would leave it at that, you could be chasing something that's not fixable.
