Ghosting and screen randomly switching to different things

The screen randomly selects different points on the screen and goes to these selections even though it didn’t touch them . Or has a problem going to what i select. Like swiping the screen to let me into the the apps after startup.

I did replace the digitizer and added the orange tape to the silver edges of the inside of the glass. Although i can see some edges of the silver metal. Would that be enough to still cause the ghosting ? The black plastic replaceable edge around the digitizer was having trouble sticking to the frame so the glass was not totally sticking to the ipad. But this was slightly noticeable. It would get worsen as the ipad stayed on longer, then randomly go to other screens. Thanks for your help

The digitizer that ifixit sells is NOT bronze colored either. So i will reapply wider orange tape and see if the changes anything. I have one more probably came from the same place the first one did. I will come back and let youmknow what’s happening. Thanks everone , much appreciated you inputs.

It’s probably just a bad digitizer.

So start by checking that the connectors are properly seated and don’t have any damage. After that, you’re next step is to try another digitizer.

Hmm...I could be wrong, but I don't think the iPad 2 digitizer in particular has bronze edges.

You're probably right...I won't bet the mortgage on it ;>). It was more of a reflexive answer. I just checked my inventory, from multiple suppliers and they are all silver. I'll edit the answer appropriately. Thanks!

So I replaced the digitizer with another one from the same vendor. And it works just fine … for now. But looking to wait to see how long it does. It’s scary to think anything from any vendo has such a lack of quality control. For instance i bought 2 ipad 5 home buttons and one of them didn’t work. So not really wanting to buy double of everything just to get one part that is good. So thanks everyone for your help. Jury still out on this one.
