What does CL mean
My washer flashes CL when I power on. Will not let me choose cycle and will not start

From Kenmore elite washing Machine Code error CL, control locked?:
This error code most likely indicates that the CONTROL LOCK has been activated. To deactivate the control lock press and hold the drain and spin button for 5 seconds. Or you can try to reset it by unplugging your machine, and plug it back in after 5-10 min.

Hold the chin button down for 5 seconds and it disappears. That’s what worked for my machine. Good luck
On my machine the chime button is the soil level button with control lock written underneath in very small letters

I had the same problem. I tried unplugging for more than 10 minutes. Did not resolve. There is no Drain and Spin button. I pressed and held the Extra Rinse button for a number of seconds. It did clear.

I tried unplugging and also holding down the extra rinse button...still CL. I called the diagnostics number, and he said it was locked, so I held down the Chime button for a few seconds and it cleared. Washed is running fine!

Just below the CHIME button in very small print it says Control Lock. Press and hold CHIME button for 3 seconds to engage and disengage this function. We have a toddler who was the first to discover this.

My button for the child lock got stuck and would not disengage. I had to take the panel apart and find the corresponding internal part and pressed that. It worked, do not recommend if you have a warranty or fear of electrocution.
Botton to push on mine was just below Rinse and Spin button...in very small print it says Control Lock. Pushed and held it for 5 seconds and all cleared.

I have the exact same washer as the photo above but none of those options are working for me. It won’t clear.

I had the same problem (CL Code) with my Kenmore HE front loading washer ( Model 796.4168). This Trouble Code is not in the Use and Care Guide provided with the machine. The first deactivate instruction doesn’t work. There is no “drain and spin” button on this machine. When I was reaching over the machine to unplug it (the alternate deactivation instruction) I bumped something on the control panel, heard a beep and the CL code was gone. What did I press to (apparently) reset the Control Lock?

I had exactly the same problem. Based on your comment, I pressed extra rinse for a few seconds and it cleared the CL. Works again!

I have exactly the same problem. I unplugged the machine for a period of 20 minutes, I pressed the ‘Chime’ button down for extended period, and still doesn’t reset the error. There isn’t any ‘Spin’ or ‘Drain’ buttons. Do you have any ideas?

I have a control lock button and held it down and the error code cleared, I think that happens mostly when you accidently lean on buttons when reaching over the panel .
