My PRAM battery is not underneath anything

The inside of my iMac G5 17" does not look like the one you have. What I assume is the PRAM batter is completely exposed. Can this be anything but the PRAM battery?

First look on the bottom of your stand to get the exact model of your iMac. Your PRAM battery is probably covered by the airport card. You may need to remove the card to gain access to it. Here's the guide on the battery replacement.

I have changed the battery. It was not under the airport card. I have one other question. The information on the bottom of my stand doesn't seem to indicate a model number. Is it part of the serial number?

Is there a EMC number? Also it should tell you the processor type and speed.

== Update ==

It has the Serial No., Ethernet No. and this:

1GB/160GB/SD/KEY/OS/UK/MDM/AP/BT/GBR/2.0GHZ

Is any of that helpful?

See if you can find an EMC number.

I’m not sure what this is a picture of but it does not look like my machine (1058). I don’t see any way to send you a photo of the inside of my machine but there is nothing in the way or on top of or covering the PRAM battery. The Airport card / module is somewhere else. I need some clarification as to the amount of bending and pulling I can get away with when I start fiddling with the retaining clip on mine, which BTW, appears to be much more substantial than the one in this picture / procedure. Can you please verify that this is the procedure for a 1058? Also BTW I see I am ten years late for this but I still need some expert help here.

Fifteen minutes later - boy, I am stupid (or not, see below). Now I see that while I have model A1058 it is in fact EMC 2055. So maybe never mind while I search your website or maybe I’ll be back if I don’t find what I want. Too many numbers for this guy, above my pay grade as we say.

Ok, now about five minutes since the previous and no luck finding a picture of my PRAM battery on the site. Still not sure how stupid I am but certainly will admit to confusion.

Hey there, I’m in the same boat. Apparently Apple revised the logic boards on these, adding a built in airport/Bluetooth card, and an ambient light sensor. The guide here in Ifixit does not mention this revised model, so leads to some confusion. Yes the battery you see is the PRAM battery.

You can tell if you have the revised logic board model by checking if there is a little light sensor under the iMac where the screws are to take the back off. It’s also (correct me if I’m wrong) the 2.0ghz model, but with no iSight camera above the screen.
