Volume slider broken loose.

I dropped my 2DS on a hard concrete sidewalk and it broke my volume slider so that it just jiggles around and it no longer produces sound.

From your description it sounds like you may have broken off the volume slider located inside the console. This slider is soldered onto the motherboard. If it was just the external slider that was broken then it would still have sound, it would just be stuck in one place and you wouldn't be able to adjust it.

This is most likely not easily fixable. If the slider broke off it probably tore off circuit traces on the motherboard, which would be very difficult if not impossible to fix.

The best fix would probably be to replace the motherboard.

I hope this helps.

I do not agree with previous reply until inspecting the broken parts.

The volume switch can be replaced and the cost of the part is usually below $10. However you will need to have the skill to remove and solder the new one.

If being the case of having broken the external plastic slider, then the case is not so simple because you will need to buy a whole case for Nintnedo 2DS to get only that piece.

In any case, it will be advisable if you take it to a repair store (avoid Nintendo, their prices are insane).

JM
