As oldturkey said, a bad lid switch will stop the washer from draining. In addition, a bad capacitor will not allow the motor to start. To drain the washer by hand, simply lower the hose below the water level and drain into a bucket. When the bucket is full, raise hose above the water level and empty bucket. Repeat until water is out of the tub. With an empty tub, you can now troubleshoot without getting wet. I would start with the lid switch first as it is the most likely culprit. If you determine that the switch is good, I can tell you how to locate and diagnose the capacitor. [br]
