@frogwoman your toaster has most likely a shorted and broken heating element. We on here are not really good at recommending any repair shop unless they are known to us as reliable. I suggest that you try to do an online search about appliance repair and see if there is somebody that looks reliable to you. Then contact them and see what you get. Small appliance repair runs into an issue with repair cost and spare parts. You may end up to either paying more for this then a new toaster or that parts will not be available. Just out of curiosity let us know what model your toaster is.
