The computer screen turns blue with an error message before the computer suddenly shuts down or restarts by itself.

A blue screen with white text flashes before the computer restarts by itself. It may be a sign of insufficient/faulty RAM card. If you believe that this is the problem, replace or upgrade the RAM card with this guide.

The random blue screen of death could be a warning sign of a possible hard drive failure. If you believe this is the problem, restart your computer and backup your data. Then, replace the hard drive.

If the graphics drivers are updated and the screen is still displaying rainbow colors, the graphics card could be damaged. Replace the graphics card with this guide.

CD does not spin once the port is closed or the computer fails to read it.

If the disk does not spin or the laptop does not read the disc correctly, eject the CD and clean the bottom carefully using a soft, damp, cleaning cloth. Make sure there are no prominent scratches that could be interfering with the reading of the disk. If the CD is too damaged, try using a different disk to check if the Optical Drive works correctly.

If you are getting a "No-Disc" error on your screen, you may need to clean the Optical Drive laser. Remove the Optical Drive assembly and remove the top casing to expose the laser lens. Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens. Dry the laser lens with the other end of the swab.

If you have tried all the above options and the computer is unable to read the CD, then the Optical Drive might be damaged. Replace the Optical Drive with this guide.

Keys do not perform its function when pressed.

If none of the keys in the keyboard respond when pressed, the whole keyboard may have to be replaced. An alternative method is to use a USB desktop keyboard with the computer.

The computer starts to slow down, or it might suddenly shut down. The laptop feels hot and there is no fan sound.

Overheating can occur due to dust and dirt that have accumulated within the cooling vents and on the fan. To clean away the dust, open the bottom panel of the computer until the fan is visible. Use a compressed air duster and blow the dust away from the fan and vents.

Test to see if the fan is operating by placing your ear next to the side vent and listen for an air blowing sound. If you do not hear anything, clean the fan and the vent using compressed air. The thermal compound can dry out and develop cracks over time which can possibly make it difficult for heat to diffuse away from the laptop. This causes an increase in the laptop's temperature. To fix it, you will need to clean away the old thermal paste and reapply new thermal paste on top of the processor.
