@ronkloiber - your post is the closest to what I have been trying to address.....my water chili cube started making a ton of noise and sure enough it was the water pump.
When I opened up the water pump I noticed (when I was pulling out the impeller blade) that there seemed to be leftover residue of some kind of rubber grommet that must have been there to ensure that the impeller shaft remained in place as the shaft spun as a result of magnetic forces.
The shaft of my impeller is also made from ceramic (which I think you alluded to in your post)...would you (or anyone reading this post) be able to provide me with a picture of what that rubber seal/grommet/gasket actually looks like? The problem for me appears to be the fact that the shaft is sort of freely spinning and floating up as it spins.....and that causes the impeller blades to crash into the upper housing of the pump itself....and this is what is producing the terrible sounds.
