I was born and grew up in Orange County, California, specifically Santa Ana. In my young adult years, I lived in Dana Point and Aliso Viejo and commuted to my job in Costa Mesa. In 2000, I bought a house in Fallbrook which is in northern San Diego County. It was then that I decided to open a small cafe downtown. After five years I moved to Flagstaff Arizona and started working at Northern Arizona University.

I also have two pet children, Kenya our Plott Hound, and Cooper our tuxedo cat.

Kenya, which means "female having stripes" which is appropriate for her brindle coat.
