I am student at the University Rhode Island. My major is Writing and Rhetoric. I chose this major because of my love for words of all kinds and the flexibility that a career in writing offers. I hope to someday, likely-post pandemic, complete my degree in Vocal Performance to be able to continue to perform opera while maintaining my writing career. My greatest aspiration would be to someday write and direct an opera of my own.
My skills include writing, proofreading and creating visual aids. Some of my proudest achievements have been writing and directing my own plays as well as performing in the many shows I have done over the years. Though I have not techinically “fixed” anything that stands out in my memory, I have helped to build my fair share of set pieces and props. I have not recieved any special accolades.
Outside of classes, I take part in URI’s Opera Workshop and tutor at the Writing Center. My favorite operas are Der Rosenkavalier, Le nozze di Figaro, Samson et Dalila and La clemenza di Tito. I enjoy working on creative writing pieces, reading and watching films from the 80s as hobbies. My favorite subjects to read about are mythology, history and human anatomy and physiology.
This project relates to me as I am very interested in technical writing or editing as a prospective career choice. Being able to work with a genuine organization to create a real artifact is excellent practice for what I may someday do professionally.
