Have you tried updating via USB? Here is the link for the software, I'm not sure if it'll work if the ODD is malfunctioning, I hope it works for you though.

That looks like a defective battery, that or it's not OEM and maybe the software isn't reading it correctly, take the back cover off and see if the battery is bloated, or normal sized but wrinkly. Not a MAC person, these are just my ideas and suggestions from past experiences I had with repairing them, so take this comment with a grain of salt.
