I've got an '01 Ford Ranger with a standard transmission. I know that if I attempt to start it without holding in the clutch then it will act in a similar fashion. Considering that you just replaced the clutch I would double check all electrical connectors associated just to make sure that when you're pushing the clutch in the truck actually knows it.
