Background and Identification
The ASUS K50IJ was released in July of 2009. Powered by Windows Vista with a 2GHz dual core processor and 320 GB of hard drive memory and a 15.6” HD LCD display, the K50IJ was a budget laptop at the time with a price of $499. The different interface options included a CD/DVD disc slot, 1 microphone input, 1 headphone jack, 1 VGA port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 RJ45 LAN jack, and a front-facing 1.3 megapixel web camera. It also featured the ASUS IceCool design which provided efficiently designed and placed heat vents which kept the palm rest cooler than that of the average human body temperature. In addition, this device provides the users with the Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) which is an energy processing unit designed to deploy the usage of power and battery life depending on the user's exact preferences in relation to the tasks that they wish to perform. A common issue with the ASUS K50IJ is that after a good-deal of use the screen often starts to flicker. Another thing that users notice is that the power button will stop turning the device on and will come across periods without power, even when on a charger.
