Removing the back cover
I welcome an expert detailed explanation on how to remove the cover carefully so that I don't break any of the snaps. Detailed video would be greatly appreciated

Here's a video that shows how to remove the back cover.
Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.61 (66 of 105 pdf) in the manual to see how to remove the back cover.
Here's a link to the Prying and Opening Tools available from ifixit.
The above information should help you to safely open the laptop

The RED arrows by the set of numbers 2 & 3, what are the arrows depicting?
I assume the #2 arrow indicates to insert the pry tool and then push the top of the tool upward. is this correct?
I cannot tell what the #3 arrow is indicating.

#2 means insert the pry tool between the cover and the base to disengage the clip and then gently lift.
#3 shows all the points that have clips that need to be released by the pry tool
