The Atari Lynx is the first color LCD game handheld console. It was released in September 1989.

Can this be fixed?

So I bought a Atari lynx 2 from ebay and it there was no power even when I used batteries whoever owned the system tired to fix it used glue to attach the power jack. I tried to removed the glue carefully, but couldn't and I think that's a coil got ripped up among with solder mask will the system work without the coil if not can it be fixed?

Hi @christophe89153

Best option is to use the schematics to trace the power input path.

With batteries installed, check if there's 5V at the TP15 +5V test point as shown in the schematics and if not, start tracing it back to the battery terminals until you find it.

Once you've found it and fixed that problem then if it's still not working, you'll have to trace forward from the TP15 test point to find out why.

Hopefully a start.

Any chance you can highlight where I should scrape mask off? I did ask AI not sure if its correct. There was no power prior to this I was going to replace the zener diode and the mosfet

Check at any of the components along the 5V power rail e.g., D9, D11, C36, D12, C40, C41, C42, R74, C44.

Whichever one is easiest to get to.

Always hard to know where to start i.e. the beginning of the path or at the end. If you start in the middle at least you know which way to go.

If there's no 5V at D9 check the battery connection terminals ;-)
