GN29GSKGSS temp fluctuating

My GN29GSKGSS fridge temp went up to 66 last week and we lost tons of food. This week it's back to normal (at least what was normal).

The temp is set at 37 for the fridge and 0 for the freezer.

I bought a couple of wifi temp monitors and they are both showing the same thing.

The fridge fluctuates between 37 and 55 and the freezer from -5 to +5 (even when the doors are closed for a long time).

Is this fluctuation normal ??? Should I be concerned about the hardware ?

Also, the digital readout on the door constantly says the actual temp is 37 even if the door is opened for a minute or 2. It never moves from 37.

Hi @alan94846

Did you mean model number GNE29GSKGSS?

If so here's the mini manual for the model, that may help.

Run the diagnostic test 00 00 as described and check if any error codes pertaining to the thermistors, fans, defrost system, sealed system and main board are shown.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown for the part.

Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

If you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, sometimes if you're lucky , you'll find videos showing how to remove/replace the part.

Sorry but this is too complicated for me. I'm very non technical.

@alan94846

As there can be several things that can cause the symptoms being shown, the quickest and easiest way to narrow it down is to run the Service diagnostics otherwise it is only guesswork as to what may be wrong.

Try to enter the Service diagnostic functions as described under the Technical Data section and check what is displayed.

There's a table showing the 4 digit error codes directly under the Tech data section, so if there is an error code being shown then find it in the table and post back here with the error code for more help.

I am a little confused on how to get into diagnostic mode. As I said, I have a GE model GNE29GSKGSS, serial DL508510. The mini manual has a number of ways (internal, capacitive, single serve and LCD). I'm not sure which one I have.

I also have the following buttons:

refrigerator button

readout

freezer button

door alarm button

ice maker button

lock controls button

reset filter button

which buttons do I press to get into diagnostic mode ?

Thanks in advance

Does your control panel on your model have a Water button?

Here's the user manual for the model from GE.

Go to p.9 and check which control panel matches what your model has. Is it the 3rd option - Control Style C, GE Models?

If your model doesn't match any control panel shown please confirm your model number?
