PSP 3000 Problem: Power Board

Hello,I have a PSP3000 that doesn't turn on. It had a fuse blown that I bridged and now boots only if I short the GND and power pin on the power on off board. While the console is turned on the green light is off and when it is turned off I can only see a dim orange led. If I try to use the power switch while I am in main menu it works like the hold button...I changed the power board but there is the same problem.

Also, somebody has been inside before. Is it surely a PSP 3000 board?

Any advice?

Hi!

Yes. You already tried replacing the power board with switch, right?

If yes, then please replace the button flex cable that connect to the power switch and motherboard as well. This one “could” cause those kind of issues. Would try that first before proceeding.

If this fails as well, then you might want to check the motherboard for broken IC’s.

If that looks good, I would replace the motherboard..

Please let us know how it goes!

First of all thanks for your answer.

I am not 100% sure that is a psp3000 because it may be a reshell. Board is a Ta090-B .That's psp3000,right?

I will try replacing the flex as you said if it's the correct model.

My pleasure! Yes should be a PSP3000. Could also be a newer 2000, you never know for sure.. what does it say on the sticker below the battery??

Some parts are interchangable with each other.

Would try that first yes! Please let us know how it goes :)!

@dan0 I really appreciate your answer. As far as I know there were different board revisions during the PSP 2000 and 3000 era. I believe that both models used the Ta090 board. However the 2k used the ta090v1 and 3k used the ta090v2 ,right? I have a board that has the mic connector but also says ta090v1.What is that?

So I thought maybe the power switch was incompatible because the ribbon flex had continuity and when i shorted its power pin and gnd console booted ok.

I could only find diagrams of the psp2000 switch that does exactly what I do when I short the pins. Is it possible that the psp3000 power board is incompatible with my mobo? I couldn't find info and circuit diagram of psp 3000 p. board.

You can see my board and the circuit here : https://imgur.com/a/9VB60fR

Hi!

Does sound like it yes.. some parts are tied to the 2000 and 3000. In your case it really does sound like the 2000 at the moment… I would try a 2000 power switch and see where it goes. As it’s very unsure what it could be, testing will be most likely the only option available… sorry..
