21 Cycles - Check Battery / Service Notification

I have had this battery sitting here for maybe 2-3 months unused. It has just 21 Cycles and shows 83% capacity, is not deformed or swollen in any way - Is this still OK to use or just needs some power cycles to maybe boost it up? (OS Clean Install of 10.11.6 just now & all the software updates, nothing more, except our friend CB). It was previously just my testing battery for units that had either a dead battery or no battery at all and was OK before.... weird.

@livfe let us know what you find out :-)

@livfe I'd try to calibrate it Battery Calibration and then re-check in a few days.

@oldturkey03

It is now up to 100% and normal condition but it drains really fast :(

door

@livfe I wonder if it's the battery. Use an ammeter and see how many amps it pulls.

Gekozen oplossing

I did the battery calibration 2x and it went from 84% to 99.4% but still displayed the Check Battery / Service Recommended notification.... then I deleted the com.apple.powermanagement.plist and restarted.... Looks good now :)

This would have been the same result on any 13" MB Air model although I completed the task using a 2011 model just in case the battery did harm in its original state. Just to be safe.,

UPDATE 10/05/25 - 23 Cycles 100% Heath reported :)
