Non-responsive with battery connected

Have a strange issue. My elite 2 controller is completely non-responsive when the battery is connected. Won't power on, charge, or anything. BUT it works when plugged in via usb without the battery connected. As soon as I reassemble the back plate and connect the battery, the controller is completely dead.

Useful diagnostic info:

battery is delivering power and not damaged
no liquid damage to controller
no visible corrosion on battery connectors

What is going on????

Are you using a battery pack? Or just 2 AA batteries? Did you tried both to test the controller? Is the controller up to date? When using a battery pack, which brand? The one from Microsoft?

This is an elite series 2...the battery is built-in, not AA replaceable. The battery is original.

Hi Matthew! Sry! Okay the easiest thing to try is a new battery pack and see if that solves it! If not, it’s motherboard related. Controller is up to date?

The controller is up to date. I just put the controller back together and while securing the back plate onto the board housing the controller turned on. Once I screwed the back plate onto the housing completely, the controller is now no longer responsive. Could there be a faulty or loose connection? The three pin battery terminal doesn't appear damaged.

Thoughts?

Hi! Could be, or something is causing a short. Can you check if the screws are not touching the motherboard? Also check the cables to see if they are free when closing the back plate.
