Device is Not powering on.

I’ve gutted this machine in hopes of turning it into something else other than an AIO. I’ve attached it to its metal base, plugged the power button in and the system fan, I’ve also plugged the power and hdmi out, and it’s not turning on. There is no signs of life and there it is cold. Power adapter is on and plugged in, not warm.

I’m not sure where else to go or do.

Hi @fireaussie

Have you verified that the power supply is supplying 20V DC to the AIO, you didn't say?

If the power supply is OK then having the schematic (supplier example only) is always a good place to start.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a free download but the above supplier is the cheapest I've found. You may have better luck. Search online for LA-E883P schematic

Looked like the ribbon cable was damaged making the power button not work. I jumped the the power button and it works but no display?!? Is this common on aio?

@fireaussie

Don't know.

Try connecting an external monitor to the HDMI port and check if there's a display on it after you turn on the AIO.

According to the specifications there's a HDMI out port and an optional HDMI in port, so if there are two HDMI ports make sure you connect to the correct one i.e. HDMI out.

As to whether it automatically sends a video signal to the HDMI port or not I don't know. Hopefully it will

@jayeff When I mention that there is no display, this is how I am connecting it sorry, via the hdmi out port, the screen that was with the aio is dead beyond viable repair, as the display costs 300-500$...

@fireaussie

That makes it difficult as you don't even know if it is starting POST. The hardware maintenance manual shows that there are error messages and not beep codes so you don't know how far it is getting after starting Also usually you can't get into BIOS with a display, using an external display

@jayeff Hmm interesting. I don't think it would post as there is no keyboard attached, no hard drive attached and no USB attached for any iso key etc. I can try and attaching the old display, though it'll be hard to see what I am doing. I think there is a setting on some BIOSs that allow to set priority of displays. Am I running in the right track or should I just waste it?
