Move a screen from one device to another

My Google Pixel 5's screen is cracked. I have an old Pixel 5 device, the screen of which is still intact.

I wanted to have the screen moved from one device to the other in a cell phone repair shop, but the man at the store fears that the intact screen might break if he tries to remove it from the device.

Are his fears justified? What can he do to limit the risk of cracking?

Using the device with the screen intact is not a solution for me: I have apps on my Pixel 5 that still work fine, but when I want to install those apps on the other device, the device refuses to do so because the app would no longer work under Android 14. :-/
