So for some reason one of the Ps1s that I have has a stuck open button. I took it apart, cleaned the button and socket, put it back together and the button still gets stuck. Maybe the spring is bad?

My solution to this problem was using a little bit of dry lube to let the assembly slip better. Another fix was sanding down the insert part where it makes the \___ shape at the end down to better work with the spring.

or button too loose, as in diameter not quite large enough.. happened to me
