I have been attempting to repair my own equipment for years. I have repaired many PCs and gaming systems. I enjoy trying to get vintage original Playstation units working. Please share any repair information about these units you may have.

The pic shows a wire being held, not solder, I think. Like the above commenter, I'm trying to understand what is being done here. Of course the ribbon cable is wound up, but exactly how does one use a hook in this process? Curling, or pulling?
Are the pins you are seeing from different models of Dualshock? Dualshock original is different maybe.
DualShock Controller (SCPH-110) (original playstation)
DualShock 2 Analog Controller (SCPH-10010)
Does anyone know where to get parts? Sticks, and microswitches for L3 and R3?
Yes, could try clean and re-solder, and do a proper re-work job.
Laser Drive Models
SCPH-100x : KSM-440AAM and KSM-440ACM
SCPH-550x-700x : KSM-440ADM
SCPH-750x-900x : KSM-440AEM
SCPH-10x : KSM-440BAM
Chances are most, if not all of the original AAM and ACM lasers are worn out.
Some vendors still carry an supposed original KSM-440BAM laser unit only.
I could not make this laser work in a SCPH-1001 unit, even after the transfer of parts.
I heard a rumor of spacers and motherboard adjustment.

PU-8 test point: CL708, voltage reading to ground without disk - 1.7 volts DC, voltage reading with disk 1.85 volts DC.
Very fine adjustment… I have yet to try this step. Has anyone?
What about spacers? Do I need these?
You must transfer the rubber grommets and the plastic laser cover from the old laser to the new.
If you don’t, the new laser will be too large for the SCPH-1001 chassis.
Do you have the specifics as to the spacers and trimpot adjustment when using a new KSM-440BAM (with extension cable if needed) on either SCPH-1001 or SCPH-5501?
